Springtime Painting

Unleash your creativity this spring! Students in grades 2nd–6th will practice basic painting techniques and explore simple color theory to create a spring-inspired acrylic painting on canvas. No experience necessary! *Registration includes all 3 sessions*

Photo Basics with Cellphone Photography

Learn to “find the story.” Participants will learn the basic principals of framing a photo including perspective, light, aspect ratios and color, with their cell phone. This class will also include a light introduction to basic editing. Ages: 14-17

Discover the fun of paper cutting! In this beginner-friendly class, students will learn how to use paper cutting software and a cutting machine. Create your own unique designs and watch them come to life. No experience necessary! Limited to 5 participants.

In this beginner-friendly course, students will design a 3D keychain using popular 3D software and bring their creations to life with a 3D printer. Each student will have their own computer, allowing for hands-on learning that blends art and technology. No experience necessary! Limited to 5 participants.

Ukrainian Pysanky Workshop

Learn about Ukrainian pysanky and make* your own at this workshop! Join the KU Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies at the Lumberyard Arts Center in Baldwin City, KS on Saturday April 5th from 10am to 1pm. Space is limited to 20 people so email crees@ku.edu to sign up.
*Making pysanky requires the use of an open candle flame and is not suited for small children.

Photography: Nighttime Cityscapes

Have you ever wanted to learn to take photos at night of the “big city lights?” This intermediate/advance course will cover some of the basics of night time photography. Participants should know how to change/adjust aperture, shutter speed, and ISO settings on their camera. The downtown KC class will photograph the Kansas City lights from the Liberty Memorial Observation Deck as well as historic Union Station.
